Hello, Maplers.
First and foremost, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for your passionate support and for enjoying MapleStory N throughout our 1st Anniversary and Summer Update season.
Today, alongside the July 1 update, we would like to share some of the development team's key focus areas regarding character progression, challenges, and rewards.
1. Boss Reward Experience
Following our first summer update on June 11, character progression moved significantly faster than anticipated, leading to a rapid increase in the number of Maplers defeating our top-tier bosses.
As a result, the rewarding experience of taking down these powerful foes was diluted much faster than we originally intended.
At the core of this Summer Update, was to provide new progression goals through the 3rd and 4th V-Skills, and introduce a new challenge with the debut of our new boss 'Will'.
Before balancing the NESO and 'Will' rewards, Power Crystals were added to the Mu Lung Dojo event to sustain a rewarding experience. However, Maplers' growth outpaced our expectations, and this measure could not fully bridge the gap.
Going forward, we will calibrate in designing new progression elements with extra care to ensure the gap between character growth and the challenges will not feel jarring.
In our third summer update scheduled for July 23, we are planning to introduce a comprehensive rebalancing of our boss and reward structures after a thorough testing and validation.
This adjustment will primarily target our new boss 'Will' and the Ascendant rewards for other existing high-tier bosses, focusing on restoring the genuine fun of growing stronger and earning meaningful rewards.
2. Character Level-up Difficulty
We are also fully aware that the difficulty of leveling up has become a significant burden for our Maplers.
While leveling up should serve as a meaningful long-term goal, we firmly believe it should not become an unreasonable hurdle.
We plan to address this by introducing new EXP benefits and adjusting the required EXP for leveling up, helping Maplers naturally step up to new challenges.
Additionally, we will flexibly adjust the entry level requirements for future bosses including 'Will' by closely monitoring the actual progression pace of our Maplers.
3. Dynamic Pricing
Since the 1st Anniversary and Summer updates, we observed that enhancement demand spiked heavily on reward distribution days and subsequently impacted market price formation.
Our Dynamic Pricing system was originally designed to reflect gradual shifts based on daily demand. However, with demand concentrating heavily on reward payout days, it created a volatile demand pattern that ultimately affected market price stability over a much longer period than expected.
In our July 1 patch, we adjusted this formula to mitigate the long-term impact of these anomalous demand spikes on enhancement prices.
Dynamic Pricing is a core system built to balance progression and rewards. We will continue to monitor and refine this system to ensure it delivers meaningful balance without losing sight of its original purpose.
Moving forward, we will remain vigilant in monitoring the game to maintain a healthy balance between progression, challenges, and rewards. Detailed specifics of these adjustments will be shared in our official patch notes at the time of each update.
Thank you once again to all Maplers enjoying their passionate adventures with us this summer.
We will remain committed to doing our absolute best to deliver more polished and engaging content in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
MapleStory N Team
