Notice on Measures Regarding Arcane Catalyst

Dear Maplers,

We would like to inform you about the identified issues and follow-up measures regarding the Arcane Catalyst item, which was added in the June 11 update.

Background

The Arcane Catalyst is an Arcane Symbol transfer system introduced to relieve the burden of symbol progression for Maplers who wish to transfer their main character to a new class.

However, with the combination of the transfer function of the Arcane Catalyst and the specification where Arcane Symbols in certain regions are distributed in the form of coins, we have identified that a pathway exists for characters who already possess Arcane Symbols in the form of coins to receive the same Arcane Symbols created by another character.

This is an issue that practically amounts to merging Arcane Symbols rather than transferring them, and we have determined that this departs from our design intent and harms the long-term healthy progression experience and game balance. Accordingly, we have blocked this exploit pathway and performed manual adjustments for the accounts where the merging had already occurred. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by our oversight in not thoroughly reviewing this possibility during the design stage.

Measures Taken & Follow-Up Actions

1. Change in Arcane Catalyst Usage Conditions

   • If you possess 'Lachelein' Coins or 'Arcana' Coins, you will no longer be able to use ‘Unstable Arcane Symbols’.

2. Individual Processing of Characters with Merged Symbols

   • While maintaining the condition that Arcane Symbols cannot be merged, the process will be handled to preserve the state with the largest amount of Arcane Symbols.
     • The Arcane Symbols obtained by the character after using the ‘Unstable Arcane Symbols’ will be retained.
     • The larger value between your ‘Existing Arcane Symbols’ and the ‘Unstable Arcane Symbols’ at the time of using the ‘Unstable Arcane Symbols’ will be retained.
       • If the amount of ‘Unstable Arcane Symbols’ is greater:
         • ‘Existing Arcane Symbols’ will be deducted, and the NESO spent on Express Pass purchases to obtain the corresponding Arcane Symbols will be fully refunded.
       • If the amount of ‘Existing Arcane Symbols’ is greater:
         • ‘Unstable Arcane Symbols’ will be deducted, and Arcane Symbols will be redistributed to the characters that sent them.
         • The NESO spent on purchasing the Arcane Catalyst will be fully refunded for characters that sent the Arcane Symbols.
   • The total amount of Arcane Symbols is calculated by converting all types of possessed Arcane Symbols and the corresponding region’s coin amounts.
   • Individually processed Arcane Symbols will be distributed to Maple Storage in the form of Arcane Symbols as much as possible, and can only be claimed by that specific character (the remainder will be distributed in the form of regional coins).
   • The levels of individually processed Arcane Symbols will be reset, and all NESO spent on the previous level-ups will be refunded.
   • The NESO spent on Express Pass and Arcane Catalyst purchases is scheduled to be refunded separately after the maintenance, and further updates via notification will be provided upon completion.
   • Multiple Merging cases involving 2 or more attempts will be processed individually based on a speparate criteria.

Apology and Additional Measures Regarding Official Support Guidance

During the process of preparing follow-up measures, we identified cases where some Maplers made inquiries regarding this method of use beforehand, but were incorrectly informed that this was a normal method of use. This was entirely our oversight, as the system's intent was not accurately reflected in our guidance standards. We deeply apologize for causing confusion to the Maplers who trusted and used our official guidance.

Accordingly, if there are Maplers who require additional support or verification regarding their individually processed Arcane Symbols or their preparation to merge Arcane Symbols on another account, please submit a request according to the inquiry instructions below.

• For Maplers whose Arcane Symbols were individually processed and require a change in symbol composition, we will support adjustments within a range where Arcane Symbol merging between characters is not possible.

• For Maplers who were preparing to merge and incurred costs to purchase Arcane Symbols, we will process refunds after a separate verification and retrieval process.

• Please submit any other inquiries regarding this matter. We will review each case and respond.

Furthermore, we will reorganize our Official Support guidance standards once again to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

Apology Compensation

As an apology for the inconvenience and confusion caused by this matter, we are distributing the following compensation to our Maplers:

• Eligibility: Accounts created before the start of today's maintenance

• Reward: 50 Arcane Symbol Selector

• How to Claim: Talk to the Maple Administrator in each town and select "Claim Compensation"

• Claim Period: Until July 30, 23:59 (UTC)

Important Notes

※ The compensation can only be claimed Once per Account.

※ The compensation can only be claimed by characters at level 200 or above.

※ You can split and claim the rewards as much as you like within the maximum limit of 50, and the claim limit is shared across all characters within the account.

※ Only Arcane Symbols that your character is eligible to obtain will be displayed as options, and the 'Arcane Symbol: Esfera' cannot be selected.
